Causes of numb hands.

The numbness of the hands is a loss of sensation or feeling in the hand or fingers, usually accompanied by numbness of the hands of other changes Kalahsas acupuncture needles or pins and burning sensation, you may feel the weight or weakness in the arms or hands or fingers, and can numb hands occur along A single nerve in one hand, or it may occur entirely and include both hands.

Causes of numb hands.

The causes of numbness in the hands are many and varied, and among the factors and diseases that may lead to numbness in the hands are the following:

1. Vitamin or mineral deficiency.

Your body needs adequate amounts of vitamin B12 to keep your nerves healthy, and a deficiency can cause numbness or tingling in both your hands and feet.

Other symptoms of vitamin B12 deficiency include  :

▪️ general weakness.

▪️ Fatigue.

▪️ yellowing of the skin and eyes;

▪️ Difficulty walking and balancing.

▪️ Inability to concentrate.

▪️ hallucinations;

The deficiency of both potassium and magnesium is also one of the causes of numbness in the hands.

2. Diabetes.

Your body may have difficulty moving sugar from your bloodstream into your cells if you have diabetes.

Prolonged high blood sugar can lead to nerve damage called diabetic neuropathy  that can cause numbness in the arms, hands, legs and feet.

3. Lupus.

Lupus affects the immune system, which causes your body to attack its own internal organs and tissues, causing infections in various areas of your body, including the joints, heart, kidneys , and lungs.Inflammatory pressure can damage nerves, causing numbness or tingling in your hands and extremities.

4. Thyroid disorder.

Hypothyroidism occurs when the thyroid gland produces too few of the hormones required for the body’s various functions.

Hypothyroidism can lead to fluid retention, which causes tissue that puts pressure on peripheral nerves to swell, causing numbness, weakness and tingling in your hands and feet.

5. Heart attack.

Blocked heart arteries can obstruct the flow of oxygenated blood to and from the heart, which in turn causes chest pain, as well as tingling and numbness in the arm or extremities.

Other heart attack symptoms may include  :

▪️ nausea;

▪️ sweating;

▪️ Shortness of breath.

▪️ dizziness;

▪️ Tingling and numbness on both sides of the body.

▪️ Shoulder pain.

▪️ Unexplained fatigue.

6. Stroke.

An interruption of blood flow to the brain from a blood clot or a rupture of an artery that causes a brain hemorrhage can cause a stroke.

A stroke causes  symptoms including numbness of the hands and extremities, and sudden numbness on one side of your body.

7. Nervous causes.

The following neurological conditions can be considered among the causes of numbness in the hands:

▪️ Brachial plexus injury.

The brachial plexus is a complex network of nerves that extend from the spine to the shoulders and help transmit signals between the spine, shoulders, arms and hands.

Shoulder injuries and tumors can damage the brachial plexus, which in turn causes numbness in the hands.

▪️ Spinal cord injury.

Trauma from a spinal cord injury, such as falls, car accidents and blows to the head, can cause tingling and numbness in the hands and feet.

▪️ Cubital tunnel syndrome.

This condition results from excessive stretching or pressure on the ulnar nerve and causes tingling and numbness.

Symptoms of numb hands.

_ Feeling of burning.

How is hand numbness diagnosed?

▪️ Get to know the patient’s medical history.

▪️ Physical examination, especially of the fingers, hands and arms.

▪️ MRI scans that may include the fingers, wrist, arm, neck, and shoulders.

▪️ Do some laboratory blood tests that may help diagnose some conditions causing the condition, such as Lupus fever and vitamin B12 deficiency.

▪️ Refer the patient to a neurologist or orthopedic specialist who specializes in hand care.

Ways to get rid of numb hands.

The numbness of the hands is very annoying, but fortunately, you can overcome it with very simple steps, including:

1. Warm compress and massage.

You can get rid of numbness of the hands by pressing on the affected area. The process of pressing and massaging the affected area contributes to the blood flow in it, in addition, it will lead to the relaxation of the muscles and nerves in the same area.

How to apply:

▪️ Dip a washcloth in warm water, wring it out slightly, and gently press the affected area for 5-7 minutes.

▪️ Repeat several times.

Alternatively, you can take a warm bath or use heating.

▪️ If pressure doesn’t help and you need a massage, apply a few drops of  warm  coconut or mustard oil to the palms of your hands.

▪️ With your fingers, massage the anesthetized area in constant circular motions for at least 5 minutes.

▪️ Repeat the process as needed.

2. Exercise and sports.

How to apply:

▪️ Do simple exercises for the hands every morning for 15 minutes, and take the breaks during work to do some quick exercises for your hands, wrists and feet.

Turmeric helps   to get rid of numbness of the hands, because it contains a compound called curcumin, which helps improve blood flow throughout the body, in addition to its anti-inflammatory and pain-relieving properties.

How to use:

▪️ Before heating the morning cup of milk, add a teaspoon of turmeric powder to it, and then after heating add some honey.

▪️ Take this recipe daily in the morning to improve your blood circulation.

▪️ Mix some turmeric with water, until you have a paste of the mixture. And massage the affected area by it for a few minutes.

4. eat cinnamon.

The  nutritional properties of cinnamon help  blood flow to the arms , as it contains manganese,  potassium  in addition to a significant amount of vitamin B. Therefore, experts recommend taking 2-4 grams of cinnamon powder daily to stimulate blood circulation.

How to use:

▪️ In a glass of warm water, mix 1 teaspoon of cinnamon powder and drink it once a day for a few weeks.

▪️ You can also if you do not like cinnamon very much, you can mix one tablespoon of tea, cinnamon powder and honey  together.

▪️ If you suffer from poor blood circulation, you can take turmeric supplements, but you should consult your doctor before that.

5. Use Epsom salt.

This salt is made up of magnesium sulfate, which helps raise magnesium levels in the body and thus improve blood circulation.

So, soaking the feet in a warm Epsom salt solution is one of the most common home remedies to get rid of numb hands .

How to apply:

▪️ Dissolve ½ cup of Epsom salt in a small basin filled with warm water.

▪️ Soak your feet in the solution for 10 minutes.

▪️ Repeat this treatment several times a week.

Note: If you suffer from diabetes or kidney problems, you should avoid this treatment and not use it.
