How to get rid of peeling skin

Peeling skin is an irritating condition. Fortunately, there are many easy ways to get rid of it. Soak your peeling skin daily and protect it from the sun. Use aloe vera and other products to help your skin heal. Home remedies like oatmeal scrubs and olive oil work wonders for getting rid of peeling skin. Your skin will be healthy and beautiful again in no time.

Taking Care of Peeling Skin

1. Soak your peeling skin in warm water.

There are many ways to soak your skin. For instance, if your back or whole body is peeling, take a bath. If only your hands are peeling, soak them in a bowl of warm water. Soak for about 20 minutes daily until you notice an improvement

• For added benefit, add two cups of baking soda to your bath water.[3] This may reduce redness and irritation while reducing your odds of skin infection.

• If your skin is peeling from a sunburn, avoid showers and hot water, as the force and temperature of water against your peeling skin can cause pain.

2. Drink about 10 cups of water daily.

Normal skin care requires drinking at least eight glasses of water daily. To help your skin recover after it starts peeling, you’ll need a bit more.

3. Protect your skin from sunlight.

Exposure to direct sunlight can weaken your skin further and complicate the peeling problem. Apply sunscreen over any exposed skin if you have to be out in the sun, and focus especially on the areas that are already damaged and peeling. Cover as much peeling skin as possible with hats and clothing before stepping outside.

• Protect your skin from sunlight regardless of whether your skin is peeling due to a sunburn or due to dryness.

4. Don’t pull your peeling skin away.

Pulling or picking at peeling skin might also tear away healthy skin, which could be painful and expose you to infection. Instead, allow the skin to slough off naturally.

5. See a doctor if necessary.

If you’re unsure why your skin is peeling or if your condition is serious, seek medical attention. Some medical conditions – including psoriasis, eczema, and ichthyosis – could lead to peeling skin. If other remedies do not gradually solve your problem, see a doctor for a diagnosis and targeted treatments

• For instance, you might have a serious problem if you’re peeling skin is accompanied by severe itchiness or redness.

• Additionally, if large areas of skin are peeling off, contact your doctor.

Using Home Remedies

1. Apply oatmeal to your peeling skin.

Soak one cup of rolled oats in two cups of warm water for about 20 minutes. Apply the oatmeal to the peeling skin and wait for about 20 minutes. Rinse the oatmeal off with warm water and scrub away dry skin with a gentle cloth.

• Apply a light moisturizer after using the oatmeal.

• The amount of oatmeal you’ll need depends on how much skin is peeling. Prepare more oatmeal if you have extensive peeling and less oatmeal if you have smaller areas of skin peeling.

• Use this remedy daily until you get rid of your peeling skin.

2. Apply a mixture of equal parts warm milk and honey to your peeling skin.

Honey is an excellent moisturizer. Just rub the mixture gently onto areas of peeling skin, then wait 10 to 20 minutes. Rinse the honey off with warm water.

• Use this treatment twice daily for about one week.

3. Cover your skin with a banana mash.

Mash one banana into 1/2 cup (118 ml) sour cream until you form a lumpy mixture. Apply the cream to peeling skin and let it sit for about 20 minutes before rinsing with clean water.

• You could substitute the sour cream for 1/4 cup (60 ml) of yogurt.

• You could substitute papaya or apple for banana.

• Use this remedy once or twice weekly until the problem is resolved.

4. Rub sliced cucumber over your peeling skin.

Bring your skin in contact with the light green flesh of the cucumber, not the dark green skin. Hold the slices against your skin for about 20 minutes and rinse off with warm water. Repeat as often as you’d like until your peeling skin starts improving.

• Alternately, grate a cucumber into a fine paste or tiny shreds. Apply the grated cucumber to the skin and leave it in place for 15 to 20 minutes. Rinse with warm water when finished.

• Cucumber will hydrate and cool irritated, flaky, and peeling skin. It also contains vitamin C, which can assist your skin’s natural ability to heal itself.
