PTSD in children.

All children may experience very stressful and painful events that affect how they think and feel, and fortunately most of the time children recover quickly and well, but sometimes children are affected by severe stress such as injuries, death or threat to kill a close family member or friend, or Because of violence for a long time.

Symptoms of PTSD in children.

PTSD in children under 6 years of age. In children under 6 years of age, symptoms of PTSD may appear differently, such as:

▪️Representing one of the painful situations that the child was exposed to while playing with other children.

▪️Abnormal attachment to an adult.

PTSD in children over 6 years old.

As for children over the age of 6 years, many symptoms may appear, such as:

▪️Lack of respect for adults.

▪️Feeling guilt about the painful situation the child was exposed to, and the desire for revenge.

▪️Difficulty sleeping, seeing terrifying dreams and nightmares.

▪️Difficulty concentrating.

▪️Feeling of different pains in the body, such as stomach ache and headache.

Post-traumatic stress disorder (P.T.S.D): –

These disturbances appear after terrifying and dangerous experiences, and the signs are as follows.

_ Flashback.

And it lasts for some seconds, and it means that the victim is living the event in an idea as if he is living the event dynamically and is repeated in front of him, which of course is frightening and the child feels dread.

_ Deliberately avoiding thinking about the event and its accompanying emotions, such as avoiding the child’s roads if his psychological trauma was caused by road or traffic accidents, and even television programs that show cars because they remind him of the accident.

_ Sleep disturbance.

_ It is provocative and jumps up to the slightest noise and simple excitement. These reactions or responses may last for a long time and affect the normal daily activities of the child greatly. Only he cannot focus on his lessons and finds it difficult to enjoy his hobbies and playing with his peers in some cases these disturbances continue with the child until he grows up and becomes Young man.

Treating PTSD in children.

The first step in treatment is to talk to parents to diagnose PTSD, as a specific event must have caused the symptoms, and since this event was distressing, children may not want to talk about this event, so they should resort to a specialist. Treating PTSD in children with medication.

Antidepressant medications are used to treat PTSD in children. To manage the emotions associated with trauma, such as anger, anxiety, and sadness.

PTSD in children may lead to some complications in the future, such as:
